I wanted something unique that I had never seen done before when I started planning for an event that my company holds every year. It is open to employees and their guests, so we usually have around 300 people in attendance. We use the same event entertainment company every time we do this because they have the most unique acts. I told the person I talked with this time that I wanted something that would single a particular individual out. He has been with the company for nearly 40 years, and he was set to retire.
I knew that everyone was going to miss him just as much as me, and I wanted to do something special for him. She told me that there is an act that centers around a dentist. It is a comedy act that focuses on one volunteer from the audience, though it does touch on other people throughout the 25 minute act. She told me to go online and look at the short video clip she had emailed to me, and I was laughing as soon as it started. I knew that this would be perfect for him!
The day of the event, no one suspected a thing because they know that we use this company for interesting acts at all of our events. However, when the stage was set with the props, there were questioning murmurs. When the comedic dentist came out to the audience looking for a volunteer, he zoned right in on the man who was set to retire. The act itself was fantastic, and he had such a fun time being up on the stage. Let me just say, he was in handcuffs, he had different face masks put on him, and he was in stitches the entire time. It was a great way to send him off!
